Sundance might be over. But there is no end to all the new, independent film you’re craving. Tomorrow, February 4th, marks the beginning of the 25th Annual Santa Barbara International Film Festival, where festival-goers can take their pick from 200 films. There will be 18 world premieres, 28 U.S. premieres, foreign films from 45 different countries and plenty of star-power. Want the details? 

Carey Mulligan & Peter Sarsgaard both due to receive honors for their work in An Education

The slogan at this year’s SBIFF is “11 Amazing Days, 10 Starry Nights”–time to celebrate a choice group of independent film and a shiny, Silver Anniversary.

Awards and people to look out for: Sandra Bullock, Julianne Moore, Colin Firth, Vera Farmiga, Peter Sarsgaard, Stanly Tucci, Cristoph Waltz, James Cameron, Emily Blunt, Gabourey Sidibe, Saoirse Ronan, Carey Mulligan, and Michael Stuhlbarg.

The Cove is due to receive The David Attenborough Award for Excellence in Nature Filmmaking. And big-ups go out to Kathryn Bigelow, named the Outstanding Director of the Year (note: Bigelow just took the top prize at DGA this year. She’s the first woman to ever receive the award).

So if you’re thinking of something fun to do for Valentine’s Day weekend, a quick get-a-way or a work-out for your inner film-buff…The Santa Barbara International Film Festival might be juuust the thing.
