LA’s über-hip gallery Ghettogloss is pleased to present “Celebrity Junk Drawer” – the work of mosaic portrait artist Jason Mecier. “Each portrait is created from the celebrities own discarded objects and junk such as broken sunglasses, make-up, gum wrappers, jewelry, deodorant, shoes, and other items.” Yep, Jason Mecier has spent over ten years working on these things. VANCOUVER – The application of geometrics and mathematical equations has always been present in film and/or digital photographic realizations. Organization of color, tone, texture and composition are understood concerns and tools of artistic creation. Visual artist Eric Testroete took those concepts and implied depth to space and form with his Papercraft Self Portrait project, inspired by his intrigue for “big-head mode” seen in video games. BRUSSELS – On my way to the annual Christmas Market at the Grand Place in Belgium, I stumbled upon a public gallery exhibit by photographer Thierry Bouët. The Parisian-born photographer is defying categorization with his latest presentation of “The First Hour”–a collection of 50 portraits of newborn babies, documented in their first hour alive (plus 9 months, of course).
