From Detroit to Atlanta; Los Angeles to Park City, DJ Menelik knows how to get people up on their feet. The eclectic DJ, known for drawing on a variety pack of musical influences, has spun for the likes of Diddy, Jermaine Dupri and well…us, at the Smashbox Tweet House party at Sundance this year. But behind the stunnershades, that big smile and those heavy beats, is a man who doesn’t just sell music. He studies it. Menelik’s wealth of musical knowledge and soulful approach to his craft are what put him at the top of his game.
We caught up with DJ Menelik to talk about the evolution of hip-hop, mixing & matching its genres, his new gig at the newly opened W Hollywood Hotel and his party playlist.
