Valentine’s Day is around the corner, and if your a photographer, chances are you’ll capture a few good couples; your best snapshots and photo-shoots of a dynamic pairs and duos are the ideal concepts for the ongoing ViewBug “Couples Photo Contest.” Winners will be selected by ViewBug’s resident and guest judges based on your image quality, originality and creativity. OMG. We are still recovering from our fantastical opening night bash. The evening was the premiere culmination of The 2011 Smashbox FACE/OFF Competition — and man-oh-man did everyone come out to celebrate the exhibited work of our rising star creatives. This competition just keeps getting better, indeed.
We’ll say this again & again: A very SPECIAL note of gratitude to our profound judges…who had a whole lot of gorgeous images and videos to judge, not to mention the insightful knowledge they shared with everyone in our Q&A judges panel. Our sponsors were amazing, of course — Rock Paper Photo gifted limited edition Madonna, Bowie and Gaga captures. Camera prizes thanks to Lomography. Here’s just a few impressive facts about FACE/OFF 2011 Judge Kimberly Brooks: She’s both a Contemporary American Painter and New Media Artist residing in Venice, CA. Her work is collected internationally and with features in publications like Art, Ltd, The LA Times, Vanity Fair, Vogue, Elle (you get it!), her critique and outlook should be put in our inspiration vaults, no matter what creative level or tier we take stake in. Amongst Brooks’ juried exhibits at MOMA, LACMA and others, she just so happens to be the founder of the Arts section of the Huffington Post as well. Amazing, right? One of our favorites by the artist is a series titled, “The Stylist Project,” where fashion becomes a language that translates into gorgeous oil portraits — stylists, costume designers and taste-makers style themselves as she captures them for a beautiful outcome.
